Everything was difficult. Going for a walk, running everyday errands… Suddenly out the blue, I felt sharp chest pains, or shortness of breathe. Had to go to the ER every other day because the pain was not tolerable. I was in and out of the hospital, I also had to file leave of absence for months. I couldn’t run or use the stairs without feeling breathless. I had to undergo different tests and stuff.
Lack of time and working in the BPO industry specially with my schedule (I work at 8:00 pm until 4:00 am) made it really difficult to find time to workout in a day. But my physical condition really kept me from fitness. I just wanted to feel strong again.
One of my colleagues invited me to try CrossFit, I tried watching some videos on youtube and thought “I want to do this!”
On my very first day of CrossFit, I threw up. It happened my second day, too. It looked impossible that I would accomplish one rep at a time. I even told my self I never thought I would be able to ever finish a Bootcamp workout. I told my self, “ Chel, sasabog na yung puso ko tama na”. Luckily I have friends that push me and inspire me. It just turned my life around..
Doing CrossFit has taught me a lot and constantly pushes me to step out of my comfort zone in a good way.
It has given me the chance to set new goals for myself! It’s true, CrossFit is a lifestyle wherein you are prioritizing your health. Not only has my stamina excelled, I also lost weight and inches! I can freely run without feeling breathless, I even joined a mini competition “death by burpees”!
It’s crazy. I am stronger than I have ever been and I’m just getting started! You don’t just regain fitness, you gain self confidence too! And friendships… those that last a lifetime! Lastly, CrossFit has helped me discover that I can be stronger than I ever thought or believed I could possibly be.
