Cheers for Struggles

I signed up for the Monsoon Throwdown because my brother (Kamil) told me we were all required to join. I don’t know why I thought he was serious so I did hahaha!

I was so scared more than anything. It was my first throwdown and I had no idea if my body would be able to handle it. Also, I signed up for Bootcamp so it made me extra anxious when they put me in scaled — i don’t know why they thought it would be a good idea to put me there but they did hahahaha. Anyway, they told me that the monsoon was just a friendly competition and to not sweat it…so i did the exact opposite HAHA

Funny…I didn’t train for two weeks so it was really more of a mental preparation for me. You know, mind over matter? I was really trying to get rid of the fear of “dying” on the spot. I kept on telling myself “Kiara, chill. You got this! For the shirt” hahahaha!!

But i don’t suggest it hahaha train not just mentally but physically as well. Practice the techniques and forms. Mentally prepare, yes. But also practice, practice, practice. And so I watched out for the WODs. Better to know what you’re getting yourself into than going in cold.

When I woke up that morning I was like “Oh god. What did I get myself into” hahaha it was safe to say that I was beyond scared.

Then it started. They were telling me that as long as WOD1 was out of way, it would be fine. But let me tell you, WOD1 was killer hahaha. I don’t know how I would have survived if not the community. They really helped a lot. They were cheering along every struggle I was in and that was definitely the highlight of the experience. To be honest, I wouldn’t have pushed that hard if not for my box mates.

All in all it was a great experience and the anxiety, struggle and push was definitely worth it. Thanks to the people who set it up!
